As the news breaks this morning about the death hours ago of musical genius and icon Prince, the Star appears to remind us that life continues and flows into, around, and beyond even the stars themselves. We are all here, alive in this plane of existence, for a measured amount of time, and none of us knows when or how we’ll leave. Follow your light as best you can, and rage if you must but remember to not take your fire out on others. Be judicious in your dealings with others, especially in business affairs, and keep your emotional reality under good control as much as you can. Be guided by the cooler influence of the mind today. Think things through.
Today’s energy is like when everything goes wonky and stays wonky and weird and there’s just nothing for it but to deal with it as best you can. Instead of there being this great, full flow, connections may be difficult and wracked and more stress-infused than you’re used to. You may find yourself coming up against rules and regulations that you’d either forgotten about or never knew about in the first place. There also may be blocks in the path, obstructions to the rightful flow of things that keep energies from manifesting the way you want them to. Go within. Let yourself find peace and space in these wonky, weird moments. Remember to engage in your meditation practice if you have one, and if you don’t, use these stressful moments as opportunities to practice mindfulness. Breathe slowly and just focus on your breathing. Let everything else just be how it is, with no need to fix or change anything. Just breathe and let happen what’s happening. Chances are good the energies will shift soon, and the flow will be restored. Let yourself have some peace until that happens, if you can. You may surprise yourself with what occurs to you in these peaceful moments.
Ok, yeah. Yesterday was full of the gentle but insistent Grandmother energy that nurtures but also consistently pulls one toward growth. Today, not so much. Today the Emperor is in play, the full-blast God Force that is taking none of your shit whatsoever. No whining will be allowed; there is either doing the thing or going home (and actually the going-home part is not even an option so don’t ask). So DO THE THING. Use your head, figure it out, and get it done. No corner-cutting, no easy-way-out; don’t even try it with these Powers. They represent the blazing, unflinching Eternal Eye that’s sort of like the Eye of Sauron only not evil. They watch and judge and exhort us to be our best, most ethical selves as we do what must be done in our lives — and They’re not asking us to do anything They haven’t done themselves, which is the core of ethical leadership. So focus, take a deep breath, and get it done.
There is no hiding from reality, no matter how hard you’ve been trying. What is, is, so let it be. Let go of childish things, and be much more measured and thoughtful in everything you do. Let go of what is dead, and let fresh energy come in and be born. You’re done with what’s past, so quit dragging it up. Let it go. Turn around and face the new reality. A new you is being born.
We are well and truly on our way into the darkness, my dears, into the great Void of unknowing and sacred silence. Work your magic to create the bridge to bring being forth from nothingness, and be relentless in your pursuit of beauty. In “Ode on a Grecian Urn,” John Keats wrote, “Beauty is truth, truth beauty.” Do not be persuaded that human appearances or the appearance of any one thing comprises what we mean by “beauty.” What we’re aiming at is the truth of human experience, and how that conveys the magic and beauty of the universe we create and inhabit. Even the ugliness within ourselves has beauty because it conveys a truth. We may not wish to see that truth, but still we must if we are to successfully bridge the Void and move along the ever-circular path of being and nothingness and being again. If you would be born anew, you must acccept all parts of yourself, even the darkness within your own soul. Keep moving, and be ruthless in your forward movement–not unkind, not uncompassionate, not unaccepting of frailty, but ruthless in the pursuit of self-awareness and honest self-appraisal. You have tools you don’t know about yet, and you’ll never find them if you aren’t keenly aware of what you’re letting yourself get away with.
You have every right to be proud of yourselves, my dears, but don’t get too carried away: the work is not done yet and there’s still a long way to go. But you’ve got more strength in you than you perhaps realized, and you have what it takes to put those ideas into action. Keep dreaming, but keep the umbrella handy because rain is coming (for good or ill). Your manifestations are alive and coming home to roost (as it were). Look to your gods and ancestors for help, and keep going.
Decks: A Curious Oracle by Holly DeFount, The Thoth Tarot by Aleister Crowley and Lady Freida Harris
Today’s draw seems kind of simple: be fierce and courageous in pursuit of your dreams, especially where money and other resources are involved. Be brave and tenacious, and fight as if the gods are on your side (because They are). Pay attention to what you’re doing, and know that while you’re working it out out in the world, you’re also working it out in your own heart. Listen, breathe, and think about what you’re doing and saying. Everything old is new again–everything comes back around. Let the cycles flow. The Wheel is always turning. Oh, and also, heads up: here be dragons.
