Romeo & Juliet

Daily Draw: The Cock and Phoenix

Today’s draw (which comes a little late, apologies; your Oracle had a date with the dentist) is a powerful one for setting and firmly establishing boundaries and foundations. Good fortune and opportune timing abounds today, and taking time to refresh those wards and shields is a good idea. Use the energy you’ve previously put into old things to bring life to the new. Let the ashes of the old nourish and provide the foundations for the new. Let go of what’s gone, and understand that if you’re not done with it (or if it’s not done with you), it will come back around again. This is all a cycle within a cycle within a cycle, and everything has its time.

Daily Draw: Gargoyle and Broken Wing

Well. Ok, then. There we have it, short and sweet (because it’s pretty obvious and doesn’t need a lot of explanation: the poison and dagger from Romeo & Juliet are under the Gargoyle’s feet, and the wounded angel has an arrow shot directly into her lower back). Today’s draw is about protection and watching your back, being careful of where you’re going and what you’re doing, and not taking anything for granted. Go carefully today and be wary because you don’t know what kind of trouble’s afoot. Don’t get caught up on other people’s drama (which is always good advice, but is especially on point today), and use your heads. Think things through.

Daily Draw: The Owl and Child Spirit

Today’s draw requires us to pay attention, but to do so with the wonder and honesty of a child. Our Inner Child. Let that child see through your eyes today. Let Her out to play in the rain (or whatever the weather is where you are). You will find the answers you’re looking for when you let go of adult cynicism, which may be perfectly justified, don’t get me wrong, there’s no judgment here — just let go of it for a little while, and let the playfulness and open-eyed, slack-jawed wowser-ness of a child experiencing life come out. See different. Experience different. Listen different.

Daily Draw: The Shield and Apple Blossom

Today’s draw reminds us that we are more thoroughly protected and blessed than we realize, and the protection is as obvious and ever-present as the sun. Let yourself be guided by your passions today, and follow your luck. It’s ok to have hopes and dreams — now is the time of year for that. Let the cycle flow, and get yourself in alignment with it. Do what you enjoy, and if you’re currently stuck doing something you don’t enjoy, don’t fret. You aren’t the only one. Generations before you worked hard for whatever they could get, and found their joys in places other than work. You can do the same, and relieve yourself of the pressure of following your bliss. Besides, there’s lucky energy in the air today, so maybe take a chance and do something outside of your routine.

Daily Draw: Ace of Pentacles and XXI The World

Today’s draw is about rooting those dreams and plans into something real and solid. Look hard at your resources and plans, and make sure that you’ve got everything you need to get started. You may have gone over this idea before — maybe you’ve tried it before and it hasn’t gone according to plan. But you can use those previous attempts, “learning experiences,” to inform how you proceed now. Listen to the wisdom of your elders and those who have achieved what you’d like to achieve. Take their advice. And don’t feel like you have to share everything about what you’re doing to everyone you meet. Keep your private ideas and plans private for now.

Daily Draw: Three of Wind and Nine of Seas

There’s an air of despair out there, friends, and the best way to fight it is with our own inner joy. That’s as simple as I can make today’s reading. Be strong in your personal joy, however that might manifest for you, and don’t let other people rain on your parade. Be mindful of where you’re going and where you are, and pay attention to where you put your feet. But as you keep moving on down your path, try to remember that there is joy all around you. Life is a burgeoning mess of a chaotic house party, and you can take part in it if you want to, either by yourself or with your crew.

Daily Draw: Green Woman, The Sword, The Owl

Today’s draw is a reminder to get out into the natural world. Listen to the movement of things, the flow all around you. Here in the Northern Hemisphere it’s winter, which means that not a whole lot is growing right now. Members of the Green World are asleep underground, keeping their energies stored for the coming spring. This is good for us to do as well: use this season to draw inward and create. Play when and where we can, letting ourselves breathe and be free of our adult responsibilities every now and again. Engage in those creative activities you used to love, or find new ones. Things are tough right now — they’re tough for many many people. I was reading an article on the Wall Street Journal web site this morning that another market correction is coming this year (because apparently we didn’t learn the lessons from the 2008 recession well enough). It’s important to prepare for these things, but it’s also important to not let the bad news make us too crazy. Try to stay even-keeled, even if there’s a storm raging around you. Those stones the universe is hurling at you right now contain the seeds of gifts and wisdom you’ll need later on. So duck, but don’t curse the storm.
