Today’s draw is reflections within reflections within reflections: The Raven is the first step of the fifth set in Holly DeFount’s system for reading “A Curious Oracle,” and Broken Wing is the fifth step of the first set. Both cards indicate working with mind and body, and both have charms that indicate that something is currently out of step. The energy for the day is highly intellectual and sharp, of figuring out what needs to be done in the moment and just doing it; the helper energy for the day indicates doing the best you can with what you have, because shit breaks in life and there’s nothing to be done about it. We don’t get to know why we’re learning the lessons we’re learning — sometimes those mysteries have to wait for our time beyond the veil once we get over there. It’s also interesting to me that, in addition to the presence of wings in both cards like all the wings yesterday, every figure in this draw is facing away from me as the reader: the raven is doing Her thing in flying onward into the clouds of the unknown, and the Angel is walking off into the miasma of the future with only one functional wing. There is no seeing what’s happening, no knowing where we’re going today. There is only doing the best we can while wounded and blind.
